Rock Your Camera! Beginning Photography Workshop

Are you ready?
Ready to stop being confused by the functions on your camera? Ready to stop demanding your child “sit still and say CHEESE”? To tell your family’s story through images that will become treasured keepsakes?

Welcome to the Rock Your Camera! Workshop!

This workshop is intended for moms and dads, and grandmas and grandpas, who are interested in learning to take better photos by taking control of their cameras! We’ll cover all the technical mumbo jumbo in non-technical plain ol’ English: aperture, ISO, shutter speed, and how they work together; using natural light; composition and posing, as well as some tips and techniques for capturing great, everyday photos of your family! Once we’ve covered all the basics, we’ll have an actual photo shoot where you can practice what you've learned. You’ll get hands on experience and some immediate feedback on your in-camera images.

You’ll also get a workbook to take home with you, and a quick reference cheat sheet (great for keeping in your pocket or camera bag!)

What You Need:
All workshop attendees need to arrive with a DSLR camera (or at least an advanced point and shoot camera that allows for manual settings), a working knowledge of their camera (know where to go to adjust shutter speed, aperture  and ISO) and a willingness to make mistakes – ‘cause you can’t be a better photographer unless you make (and learn from) a few mistakes!

Which lenses should you bring? A 50mm lens is perfect for grabbing photos of your kids. Don’t have one? BHPhoto.com is a great resource, and the 50mm 1.8 lens can be purchased without putting an extreme hurt on your wallet. Not sold of the 50mm? Bring what you’ve got!

Where:
Tanque Verde Guest Ranch

$100 ($150 after 1/25/12)
